Robert Amos has dedicated himself to painting the urban landscape, focussing on Victoria, British Columbia, and environs. As an Honorary Citizen of Victoria, a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts and for 26 years art writer for the Times Colonist, he is one of Victoria’s best-known artists. For full details see “bio”.

As an artist creating watercolour and acrylic paintings over the past 35 years, I seek out inspiring locations at whatever time of day and year shows them to best advantage.  Since 1975 I have painted an extensive document of Victoria and published eight books and numerous magazine articles. Working from my studio, without commercial gallery representation, I take great personal interest in satisfying my customers and providing exactly what they need from my extensive repertoire of images.

There are hundreds of paintings to choose from, and also I create images on commission. People contact me for detailed and very personal “heirlooms of the future” which depict their cherished places. These paintings of their homes and gardens are graced with all manner of family details. Many are presentation pieces to commemorate anniversaries, serve as retirement gifts or celebrate other meaningful events.

Among my recent customers for commissioned works are the Royal British Columbia Museum, the City of Victoria, the Fairmont Empress Hotel, Oak Bay Municipality and the University of Victoria. I have created posters for British Columbia Heritage for the past 11 years and for the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria's House and Garden Tour for 12 years.

Please contact me and let me show you what I can do for you. This web site offers only a small glimpse of what is in store.
